My Training in Marketing Research

Throughout 2009 my formal marketing research training goals have committed me to complete a certificate course at University of Georgia, in the Principles of Marketing Research. After completing this course, my training efforts will be concentrated on a certificate in Applied Statistics from Pennsylvania State University. This year-long curriculum is composed of four evening courses covering regression analysis, survey sampling, multivariate analysis and data analysis with SAS. Concurrent to my more regimented studies, self study of the applications of statistics within marketing and consumer research will accompany my personal pursuit of learning SPSS. My initiative to further my education are all geared toward my long term goal to become a Research Analyst.

Why Marketing Research?

Shortly after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley, my pursuit of a fulfilling career increasingly affirmed an unwavering fascination of marketing research. Throughout 2008, various positions within the industry applied my analytical strengths and encouraged me to further pursue market research.

These positions included fieldwork such as public opinion survey distribution and on-site consumer focus group recruitment. My in-house research support introduced me to logistical survey preparation, survey coding, general survey administration and CATI surveying. Throughout the execution of this research, its methodological approach captured my interest and concentration.

My earliest exposure to marketing research consisted of the design, fieldwork supervision and analysis of a niche consumer market survey during my second year at college. Since then, high-tech sector marketing and financial non-profit auditing experience lead me to confirm my inclination toward the more analytical facets of  research.
